Women's Only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Orangeville

Our women's only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class runs every Sunday, 9:00 to 10:00 am. It's a welcoming place to learn self-defence, build strength and confidence, and train with other women. No experience needed.

Why women train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu relies on leverage and timing rather than size and strength, which is why it works so well for self-defence. You learn to stay calm under pressure, escape when someone is holding you down and get back to your feet safely.

Why a women's only class

Some women prefer to start with training partners closer to their size, or simply feel more comfortable learning with other women. This class gives you that, with the same techniques and coaching as our other adult classes.

What you'll learn

You start with the basics: holding a strong position, escaping from underneath and simple submissions, then practise them with a partner. Each technique builds on the last, so you can see your progress from week to week.

A workout that doesn't feel like one

Every class works your whole body: strength, flexibility, balance and cardio, without weights or treadmills. You don't need to be fit to start. You get fitter by training, and you go at your own pace.

Your coach: Davina Rangoo

Davina Rangoo, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt and Judo green belt, is head coach of our women's program. She brings warmth, energy and a welcoming spirit to every class. Every coach here has a police vulnerable sector check and NCCP training.

Class time and location

Sundays, 9:00 to 10:00 am, at 75 First Street in downtown Orangeville. Use the front entrance, the only way into the building, and head downstairs to the basement. Parking is free in the on-site lot.

Your first class

Your first women's class is free, and you can book it online. Wear athletic clothes (no shorts) and arrive 15 minutes early. Loaner uniforms are available; after your first class you'll need a gi, which you can buy at the academy.
