Orangeville BJJ is a martial arts school at 75 First Street teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo to kids, teens and adults. We specialize in beginners, so a first-timer can keep up in every class. Your first class is free: wear athletic clothes, arrive 15 minutes early, and a coach will take you through the basics.
Toddlers 3 to 5, kids 5 to 8 and 8 to 12, grouped by age and level.
Gi classes in the mornings, evenings and on weekends, plus a Sunday open mat. Beginners welcome.
Grappling in shorts and a rash guard, taught by our black belts. Included with adult BJJ.
Head instructor Jake Smith is a 2nd degree black belt in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo, a 2018 IBJJF World Masters champion, a four-time Ontario Open Judo champion and an NCCP Level 3 coach.
Head Judo coach Fred Dyke is a 6th degree black belt who has trained since 1968 and is an NCCP Level 2 coach.
Classes run seven days a week, prices are posted openly, and additional family members and first responders save 15%.
Our black belt coaching team includes IBJJF world champions Jake Smith and Chas Zekeres and world silver medallist Maurice Gear. Safety comes first: every coach has a police vulnerable sector check and is NCCP trained.
Members train with us from Orangeville and across Dufferin County, including Mono, Shelburne, Grand Valley, Amaranth and Mulmur, as well as Caledon, Erin, Alliston (New Tecumseth) and Arthur (Wellington North).
Early-morning and daytime classes suit commuters and shift workers.
Many of our members are first responders, who find BJJ valuable for protecting themselves and the public. First responders get 15% off their membership.

No. We specialize in beginners with no experience. Classes begin with a light warm-up and technical instruction before any sparring, and your fitness builds as you train.
Yes. Right now, new teens and adults can train free for 30 days (sign up by October 31, 2026): book your first class online on our Book a Free Class page and your 30 days start at that class. For kids, the first class is free; email orangevillebjj@gmail.com with your child's name and age.

Adult BJJ is $150 a month, Judo $125 a month, or both for $200 a month on a 12-month plan. Teens pay adult rates. Kids are $100 a month (ages 5 to 8) or $125 a month (ages 8 to 12). Prices are plus HST, and additional family members and first responders get 15% off.
Memberships are set up in person at the academy, and most people sign up after their free class.

Yes, every Sunday from 9 to 10 am.
Judo focuses on throws and takedowns from standing. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu focuses on control and submissions on the ground. Training both makes a complete grappler.
