Self-Defence Classes in Orangeville

Learn to stay calm, escape holds and get back to your feet safely. We teach practical self-defence through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo for adults, women and kids at 75 First Street. No experience needed, and your first class is free.

Why BJJ and Judo work for self-defence

Most real confrontations end up close: a grab, a push or a fall. BJJ and Judo are built for exactly that, using leverage and timing instead of size and strength. You practise every technique with a resisting partner at a safe pace, so you learn what works and how to stay calm.

Self-defence for adults

Our adult BJJ and Judo classes are beginner-friendly, so you can start with no experience at any fitness level. Gi classes run six days a week and no-gi classes run Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Adult membership is $150 a month on a 12-month plan, plus HST.

Self-defence for women

Our Women's Only BJJ class runs Sundays from 9 to 10 am, coached by Davina Rangoo, a BJJ brown belt. It's built for beginners and is a welcoming place to learn self-defence with other women. Jiu Jitsu relies on leverage and timing, not size and strength.

Anti-bullying: self-defence for kids

We teach self-defence, not fighting. Kids learn to stay calm, use their words, escape holds and get back up safely, so they can walk away and tell an adult. Classes are grouped by age from 3 to 12, and every coach is police-checked and NCCP trained.

What you'll learn

You'll learn how to break free from wrist grabs, bear hugs and headlocks; fall safely and stand back up; escape from underneath someone heavier; control a situation without punching or kicking; and stay calm, keep your distance and use your voice.

Your first class

Your first class is free. Wear athletic clothes (no shorts) and arrive 15 minutes early. Use the front entrance at 75 First Street and go downstairs. A coach will meet you and take you through the basics. Loaner uniforms are available.
